MESSAGE FROM THE CAPTAIN

Once again we have had a great event to look back on with fond memories.  The Battle at Hot Springs was a wonderful event.  Thank you to all of you who were able to attend, and I hope all of you enjoyed it as much as I did.  For those of you who were unable to come, you really missed out.  We had great weather after a little rain on Friday evening, and they fed us well on Saturday night.  The event hosts (Hot Spring Spa) were very pleased and plan to have it again next year.

Our company now has a quartermaster who will keep and maintain our company equipment.  Jesse Reese has accepted this appointment and I know that he will do a wonderful job in this post.  Thanks, Jesse!  And thank you to all who have donated money and various items to the company.  We now have quite a bit of stuff for Jesse to keep up with, but it will be invaluable when we have new troops who need to borrow things till they acquire their own.

I also have promoted Mike Arrowood to corporal.  Mike is a fine soldier and I know he will capably fill this position and do his usual fine job at whatever he does.  Thanks, Mike!

I want each of you to know that I was very pleased and proud of all of you at Hot Springs.  We had two excellent drills there, and I saw a lot of improvement each time as we worked on deployments and skirmishing.  We will work more on this at upcoming events, and I plan to have something new to start on also.

The battles went well, and on Sunday we did a wonderful job of holding our flank in spite of the other flank being crushed.  The crowd got a great show, and I was honored to be on that field with you both days.  Well done!

I also wish to thank Sgt. Clark for another great job filling in as First Sgt. and providing solid guidance and leadership as he always does.  Mike also presented us with the new colors that he had made for the company.  They look great and are a fine addition to our company.  Thanks, Mike!  Corporal Arrowood also did a great job as he filled in Sgt. Clark's position as left guide all weekend.  Thanks, Michael!  All of you make my position so easy by the excellent work you do, and I thank all of you for the honor of serving with you in this company.

Our next event is the living history at the Shook House on July 10-12.  I hope to see everyone there.  Bring both uniforms, be we will probably be in blue most of the time.  We will be planning for Cedar Creek at this event, so please make every effort to come.  If you haven't gotten your $5 to Michael for the website, please do so as soon as you can.  See you in Clyde!

Deo Vindice,   Captain Henry Rathbone

Captain Henry Rathbone, 22nd N.C. Regt. Co. B

Welcome!  We are an association of living historians representing two impressions from the 1861-1865 era:  the 22nd North Carolina Infantry Regiment, Company B (CSA) and the 3rd North Carolina Mounted Infantry (Kirk's Raiders, USA).

Our association participates in reenactments primarily in Western North Carolina and regions of adjoining states, and our goal is to be an historically accurate and informative group of reenactors telling the fascinating story of the War Between the States / Civil War in our region.  We are family-friendly and open to all qualified persons, and we enjoy great fellowship in all of our activities.  In all that we do we seek to honor the courage and dedication of the fighting men we portray, and make their sacrifices real to the 21st-century generation.

Please explore the following pages, and note that information will be updated regularly.  Contact information for company officers can be found at the top of the Event Calendar page, and we welcome your inquiries.
